Beau's Is the First Brewery in Canada to Choose 100 Per Cent Green Electricity and 100 Per Cent Green Natural Gas

Beau's All Natural Brewing Company, already one of Canada's most sustainably operated breweries, is taking the next step in its sustainability journey. Today, Bullfrog Power®, Canada's leading green energy provider, and Beau's are pleased to announce that Beau's All Natural Brewing Company is now the first brewery in Canada to choose 100 per cent green electricity and 100 per cent green natural gas.

Through the agreement, Bullfrog Power's generators put 100 per cent clean, green electricity and 100 per cent green natural gas onto the respective energy system to match the amount of electricity and natural gas Beau's brewing operations use. In the case of green electricity, Bullfrog Power's generators put 100 per cent green electricity onto the grid to match the power used by Beau's brewery. Across Canada, Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

Sourced from a unique, ground-breaking methane-capture project situated on one of Canada's thousands of landfill sites, Bullfrog's green natural gas is a climate-friendly alternative to conventional, polluting natural gas. Through this innovative technology, biogas is captured, cleaned up, and put into the national natural gas pipeline, displacing fossil fuel-based gas and reducing CO₂ emissions into the atmosphere.

• Creating the Greener Futures Project, a unique and limited beer club with the goal of helping Beau's achieve its goal of becoming a totally sustainable brewery.

• Implementing an employee carpool/ride to work incentive program.

• Targeting and achieving a 50 per cent reduction in brewery energy use over a three-year period.

• Working with local producers to develop a local, certified organic, raw materials stream-in 2014/15, Beau's will source more than 20 per cent of its hops from Ontario farmers.
