LONDON (ShareCast) - US aircraft maker Boeing (NYSE: BA - news) has won its largest ever single order in a major deal with budget carrier Lion Air of Indonesia. Lion Air is to take 201 of Boeing's 737 Max aeroplanes and 29 of the company's 737-900 models, with an optin to buy a further 150 aircraft. The deal was announced at the Singapore air show. Privately owned Lion Air is going through an expansion phase and expects to carry 27m passengers in 2012, a 30% increase on 2011. The list price for the aeroplanes order by Lion Air is said to be $22.4bn, although some industry analysts speculated that Boeing might have had to offer a substantial discount to land such a large order. jh
