BP says Whiting, Indiana, refinery output cut due to CDU shutdown

HOUSTON, Aug 12 (Reuters) - BP Plc said on Wednesday that production has been reduced at the company's 413,500 barrel per day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery due to the shutdown of plant's largest crude distillation unit on Saturday.

BP said in a statement that the 240,000 bpd crude unit was shut for unplanned repair work.

"BP is working to safely restart the unit as soon as possible," the company said in the statement. "In the meantime, the company is working to meet its fuel supply obligations."

Sources familiar with Whiting operations have said the crude unit will likely be shut to fix piping on the unit. Some reports have placed the length of the shutdown at two months. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Marguerita Choy)
