HOUSTON, Aug 4 (Reuters) - The 30,000-barrel-per-day (bpd) alkylation unit at BP Plc's 413,500 bpd Whiting, Indiana, refinery malfunctioned on Tuesday morning, trade and industry sources said.
The unit upset triggered the refinery's safety flare system on Tuesday morning, according to local media reports.
