HOUSTON, Aug 5 (Reuters) - BP Plc plans to return a catalytic reformer and the blending oil unit to production next week at its 413,500-barrel-per-day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery, sources familiar with the plant's operations said on Friday.
A BP spokesman declined on Friday to discuss production at the Whiting refinery.
BP was continuing the restart of the 60,000 bpd reformer and blending oil unit, the sources said.
Primarily due to the outage of the reformer and blending oil unit, but also in part because of a wastewater treatment plant malfunction, BP has cut the Whiting refinery's production to between 75 percent and 80 percent of capacity.
Wastewater sediment discharges from the refinery into Lake Michigan continued to be under permitted levels for a second day on Friday, the sources said.
BP said on Thursday the wastewater plant had reduced discharges of sediment into Lake Michigan to permitted levels. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Grant McCool)
