** Australian iron ore miners Rio Tinto Ltd (Xetra: 855018 - news) Fortescue Metals Group and BHP Billiton Ltd fall as much as 3.7 pct to 8.3 pct

** Both Rio and BHP hit their lowest since April 21

** Miners hit by persistent weakness in iron ore prices

** Iron ore is currently trading below $60 a tonne

** Fortescue says its calls for an inquiry into iron ore market will generate enough public pressure to force BHP and Rio to rein in expansion plans

** Rio Tinto says a worker at Fer et Titane unit died after being injured in fatal accident

** Adds work at Fer et Titane operation has been suspended until further notice
