BUZZ-C&C Group: Down on rejected takeover bid

** Irish cider maker C&C Group Plc (Other OTC: CCGGY - news) 's shares down as much as 8.5 pct after Britain's Spirit Pub Company Plc (LSE: SPRT.L - news) rejects a takeover proposal.

** C&C Group's London listed stock was amongst top percentage losers on LSE, while its Ireland (Other OTC: IRLD - news) -listed shares shed 8.23 pct.

** Spirit Pub, which is engaged in takeover talks with Greene King Plc (LSE: GNK.L - news) , said C&C had until Nov 20 to announce a firm offer. C&C confirmed its preliminary approach in a statement on Friday morning.

** Peel Hunt analyst Nick Batram says likelihood of a successful bid has increased and Spirit shareholders should sit tight and wait for the process to play out.

** Spirit's shares up as much as 2.58 pct, while Greene King's stock was down 0.94 pct.
