** Premier Foods (LSE: PFD.L - news) shares rise as much as 24 pct, poised for biggest one-day rise since Nov 2011, top gainer on the FTSE Small Cap Index and FTSE All Share Food Producers Index

** Overall Q2 revenue +2.4% to £175 mln, well above ests of some analysts e.g. Jefferies which had forecast -0.4%

** Q2 YoY branded food sales +1.6% -- first quarterly gain in two yrs, helped by demand for products like Oxo Seasonings and Bisto gravy

** Stock at its highest in nearly five months
