The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.58 percent at 17,831.35, the S&P 500 was up 0.72 percent at 2,061.48 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.94 percent at 4,770.33.

** COCA-COLA CO, $42.43, +2.91 pct

The world's largest beverage maker reported a better-than-expected profit as sales in North America, its biggest market, rose for the first time in four quarters, offsetting the impact of a stronger dollar on its overseas business.

The automaker said on Tuesday that a former member of the U.S. auto task force that helped restructure the company in 2009 during its bankruptcy wants to join the board of directors and have the automaker commit to a $8 billion share buyback program.

The hotel operator reported an 83 percent jump in quarterly profit and said it would spin off its vacation ownership business.

The U.S. oil and gas producer plans to slash its rig count in Oklahoma and Kansas by nearly 75 percent, according to a document obtained by Reuters.

** QUALCOMM INC, $70.069, +4.41 pct

Analysts from FBR, Nomura, RBC (Other OTC: RBCI - news) and BMO raised their price targets on the stock after the U.S. chipmaker agreed to pay a record near-$1 billion fine in China for antitrust violations.

"The terms of the new royalty deal were less than perfect, we view the terms as better than feared, a net positive for QCOM in our opinion," FBR Capital Markets & Co analysts said.

The company suspended its oil drilling program and released two operated drilling rigs due to the drop in oil prices.

The operator of the consumer review website Yelp.com said it bought online food-ordering service Eat24, expanding its business beyond consumer reviews into one of the hottest sectors of the online economy. The acquisition of Eat24 for $134 million puts Yelp in direct competition with established operators such as GrubHub.

** RANGOLD RESOURCES LTD, $78.99, -3.97 pct

Analysts at Deutsche Bank (Xetra: 514000 - news) downgraded the company's London-listed stock to "buy" from "hold" and cut their price target to 56 euros from 58. Randgold also reported lower quarterly profit and revenue on Monday, despite a 26 percent rise in gold production.

** MARTIN MARIETTA MATERIALS INC (NYSE: MLM - news) , $132.25, +10.99 pct

The building and construction material supplier posted better-than-expected results for the first time in five quarters, helped by higher prices and shipments.

The company also authorized a new 20 million share buyback program, which includes 5 mln shares under its previous program.

** MONSTER WORLDWIDE INC (NYSE: MWW - news) , $4.94, +9.78 pct

The online recruitment company's posted a better-than-expected fourth-quarter profit as bookings in its North American careers business rose.

The company also announced cost reduction initiatives, including 300 job cuts and said it expected savings of $38 million-$48 million beginning in the fourthquarter of 2015.

** SEALED AIR CORP, $45.06, +10.09 pct

The bubble wrap-maker posted a better-than-expected fourth-quarter profit, helped by higher sales across all regions.

It also forecast a 2015 profit above the average analyst estimate and said it expected margins to expand in 2015.

** INTREXON CORP, $34.6, +14.72 pct

The U.S. apparel retailers reported better-than-expected quarterly sales after holiday sales in the United States rose the most since 2011.

Topeka Capital and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey raised their price targets on Aeropostale to $3.50 from $3. At least five brokerages, including Stifel Nicolaus, Sterne Agee & Leach, and Robert W. Baird, raised target prices on Urban Outfitters in a range of $36-$44.

** ALLISON TRANSMISSION HOLDINGS INC, $31.51, -3.05 pct

The vehicle transmission system maker said it expected 2015 sales to be flat or fall by up to 5 percent due to a "heightened level of uncertainty and the lack of near-term visibility and confidence in the global off-highway end markets".

The online deal coupon provider forecast first-quarter revenue of $52 million-$54 million, below the average analyst estimate of $66.3 million.

** PFIZER INC (NYSE: PFE - news) , $33.92, +2.57 pct

The drugmaker said it entered into an agreement with Goldman, Sachs & Co to buy back $5 billion of its stock. Under the agreement, which forms a part of Pfizer's existing buyback authorization, about 150 million shares will be bought.

** COMPUTER SCIENCES CORP, $60.23, -7.11 pct

The information technology services company's third-quarter revenue missed the average analyst estimate as revenue from two of three segments fell, while that of the largest increased only 0.8 percent.

** ANTHERA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NasdaqGM: ANTH - news) , $3.15, +21.15 pct

The drug developer said an interim analysis shows a late-stage study of its Lupus drug could continue as planned.

** KKR & CO LP, $23.86, -4.48 pct

The company's fourth-quarter profit fell 89 percent to $86.6 million due to a drop in the valuation of oil and gas firms.

KKR also blamed the decline in profit on the fall in value of its collateralized loan obligations and other credit investments.

The company priced an offering of 1 million American Depository shares (ADRs) at $12.50 per share, a discount of 14 percent to Monday's close.

The hotel chain operator reported a better-than-expected fourth-quarter profit, helped by a 5 percent increase in revenue per available room (RevPAR).
