U.S. stocks opened higher on Wednesday as optimism grew that a resolution would be reached between Ukraine and Russia, with investors also looking ahead to data on factory orders. The Dow Jones industrial average was up 0.46 percent at 17,146.16, the S&P 500 was up 0.27 percent at 2,007.67 and the Nasdaq Composite was up 0.24 percent at 4,609.34.

** DELTA AIRLINES INC, $38.75, -5.33 pct

The airline operator cut its third quarter passenger unit revenue growth forecast to up to 3 percent from up to 4 percent. Delta's passenger unit revenue rose 2 percent in August and 3 percent in July.

Up to Tuesday's close, the stock had more than doubled in value in the past 12 months, while the S&P 500 index had risen 22 percent.

** INFINITY PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NasdaqGS: INFI - news) , $15.3, +40.11 pct

The drug developer entered into a deal with AbbVie Inc (NYSE: ABBV - news) to develop cancer drug duvelisib, codenamed IPI-145, for which it will get upfront payment of $275 million and up to $530 million in milestone payments.

Infinity also signed an agreement with Roche Holding AG (Other OTC: RHHBF - news) to test Roche's cancer drug Gazyva, or obinutuzumab, in combination with its experimental cancer drugs.

** CDW CORP, $31.94, -3.62 pct

The technology products retailer said shareholders, including the company's chief financial officer, will offer 15 million shares.

CDW will not receive any of the proceeds from the sale(http://1.usa.gov/1umkMIC)

The stock had risen nearly 42 percent this year, up to Tuesday's close.

** NOBLE CORP PLC, $28.14, +2.44 pct

Hedge fund Fir Tree Partners reported on Wednesday that it had raised stake in the offshore drilling contractor's company to 9.6 percent as of Aug. 27. Fir Tree, which previously owned 5.7 percent of Noble (NYSE: NE - news) , said without any "significant" change in Noble Corp's capital allocation policies, shares may continue to remain undervalued.

** CHINA MOBILE LTD, $64.22, +2.93 pct

The Chinese state-owned telecommunications company on Tuesday began taking preorders for Apple Inc (NasdaqGS: AAPL - news) 's iPhone 6 in Beijing, ahead of an official launch on Sept. 9, according to appleinsider.com, citing a Chinese newspaper (http://bit.ly/Z6UgZ3)

As of Tuesday, the company had received more than 33,000 orders for the 4.7 inch and the 5.5 inch versions of iPhone 6, the report said.

** CAPITAL PRODUCT PARTNERS LP, $10.0967, -7.88 pct

The shipping company said on Tuesday that it plans to offer 15 million common units. The offering represented nearly 14 pct of the company's outstanding shares as of Tuesday. The company said it planned to use proceeds to part fund purchase of two product carriers and buy back units worth $60 million from Capital Maritime & Trading Corp.

** ELLINGTON FINANCIAL LLC (NYSE: EFC - news) , $23.61, -4.02 pct

The specialty finance company announced a public offering of 8 million common shares, or 31.5 pct of total outstanding shares and planned to use proceeds to acquire assets.

The company had 25.44 million shares outstanding on Aug. 1.

** TETRAPHASE PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NasdaqGS: TTPH - news) , $14.75, +12.77 pct

The drugmaker's experimental drug to treat complicated urinary tract infection was successful in late-stage study. The drug in two doses was found more effective than levofloxacin, an antibiotic usually prescribed for the condition.

JMP Securities raised its price target on stock to $20 from $16. The median price target on stock is $20.50.

** TOLL BROTHERS INC (NYSE: TOL - news) , $34.84, -2.22 pct

The largest U.S. luxury homebuilder's quarterly income more than doubled as it sold more homes at higher prices.

** HELEN OF TROY LTD, $52.765, -10.79 pct

The personal care products and houseware maker lowered its full-year profit and revenue forecast, citing recent retail weakness. "In our personal care business, the multi-year downward trend has accelerated recently, particularly in the more commoditized parts of our appliance business," Chief Executive Julien Mininberg said.

** BAIDU INC (Xetra: A0F5DE - news) , $230.27, +2.43 pct

The company launched on Wednesday a service that helps retailers advertise on the smartphones of nearby users as China's dominant search engine company expands its location-based technology to drive growth.

** CONCUR TECHNOLOGIES INC (NasdaqGS: CNQR - news) , $107.525, +6.51 pct

The travel management and expense software maker is exploring a sale of the company and has approached Oracle Corp and Germany's SAP SE (NYSE: SAP - news) , Bloomberg reported, citing people with knowledge of the matter.

** VODAFONE GROUP PLC, $34.66, +0.99 pct

A Nikkei report suggested the British mobile operator may become a takeover target for Japanese telecoms firm SoftBank Corp (Xetra: 891624 - news) .

** SANOFI SA, $55.66, +1.26 pct

The French drugmaker, developing the first vaccine against dengue fever, said its product reduced disease cases by 60.8 percent in a large final clinical trial.
