Shares (Berlin: DI6.BE - news) of Britain's second-biggest drugmaker, AstraZeneca , broke through the day's low after Pfizer's approach for Hospira. Traders say tie-up ends speculation Pfizer could seek to acquire AstraZeneca. The company earlier reported weak fourth-quarter earnings.

The maker of the K-Cup single-serve coffee pod reported a lower-than-expected quarterly profit and reduced its sales projection for 2015 as sales of its brewers fell in the all-important holiday season.

** CEMEX, $9.595, +9.16 pct

The Mexican cement-maker on Thursday reported a narrower fourth-quarter loss that was bigger than analyst expectations, hurt by a drop in asset values and a loss related to a derivative tied to the company's share price.

** W.R. GRACE & CO, $101.47, +11.37 pct

The specialty chemical manufacturer said it would split into two companies to improve strategic focus, simplify operating structures and make better use of capital.

The web-based business software provider said it will be bought by Insight Venture Partners in a deal valued at about $273 million.

The molecular diagnostic company, which was issued a warning by Nasdaq for breaching minimum price requirement for listing, said it had solved the issue.
