CREATe.org Launches 'Protecting Trade Secrets' e-Learning Course

Online course helps companies educate employees and supply chain and business partners about trade secrets and ways to protect confidential corporate assets

Washington DC - November 18, 2014 - Companies concerned about losing valuable trade secrets can now use CREATe.org`s e-Learning course, "Protecting Trade Secrets," a 15-minute interactive course designed to help companies educate their employees and third party partners about the importance of trade secrets and confidential information. It features:

  • An overview of trade secrets: what they are, why they are important, and how to protect them.

  • Scenarios of ways employees or third parties can knowingly or unwittingly compromise trade secrets and confidential information.

  • Interactive exercises highlighting how to comply with the laws and contracts that protect a company`s trade secrets.

  • A quiz to assess the learning in the course.

Trade secrets - which could range from research data, unique processes and applications of information technology to formulas or customer data - are the valuable assets that enterprises have acquired through research and development and years of refining unique techniques and processes.

"Insiders, including third parties, pose the greatest threat for trade secret theft and misappropriation. Educating employees, suppliers and business partners about their role in protecting these valuable assets is an important first step for companies to mitigate risks," stated Pamela Passman, President and CEO of the Center for Responsible Enterprise And Trade (CREATe.org).

The "Protecting Trade Secrets" course is a cost-effective, scalable and practical way to take a proactive approach to the protection of trade secrets and other confidential information. The course is available in English and Chinese and will soon be available in Spanish and Portuguese.
