Europe Gasoline/Naphtha-Gasoline cracks gain on refinery outages
LONDON, Oct (HKSE: 3366-OL.HK - news) 25 (Reuters) - Northwest European gasoline refining margins extended their gains on Tuesday, supported by an unplanned outage impacting production of the motor fuel at Statoil (LSE: 0M2Z.L - news) 's Mongstad refinery.
* Statoil suspended production of gasoline at its 205,000 bpd Mongstad refinery in Norway following a hydrogen gas leak on Tuesday, the company said.
* Planned refinery turnarounds in Europe were already supporting margins by curbing supplies.
* While demand from the U.S. and Latin America for gasoline and for reformate from China were also giving margins a floor.
* Valero, the largest independent U.S. refiner, reported a 55.5 percent plunge in quarterly profit as margins were squeezed by high gasoline inventories and costs jumped for meeting renewable fuel standards.
* The refiner plans to run its 15 refineries up to 94 percent of their combined crude oil intake capacity of 3 million barrels per day in the fourth quarter of 2016.
* Total (LSE: 524773.L - news) said a gas blast at its 241,0000 bpd Gonfreville refinery in northern France on Monday has not impacted production at the plant because the unit involved was in maintenance.
GASOLINE
* No barge trades of benchmark Eurobob gasoline emerged in the afternoon trading window. A bid surfaced at $493 a tonne fob ARA, down from $499 a tonne on Monday.
* Elsewhere during the day, 6,000 tonnes traded at $501-$507 a tonne fob Amsterdam-Rotterdam, compared with $502.50 a tonne the previous session. Gunvor and BP sold to Varo and Trafigura.
* Rolympus sold to Total a barge of premium unleaded gasoline at $517 a tonne fob ARA, down from $524 a tonne.
* The November swap stood at around $493 a tonne at the close, down from $496 a tonne.
* Gasoline barge refining margins stood at $10.37 a barrel, up from $9.75 on Monday.
* Brent crude oil futures for December delivery were 70 cents a barrel lower at $50.76 by 1556 GMT.
* U.S. November RBOB gasoline futures were trading 0.8 percent lower at $1.4918 a gallon.
* The U.S. gasoline crack (RB-CL1=R) traded at $12.14 a barrel, up from $11.16 a barrel.
