If you’re in search of bucolic bliss, a farmhouse could be your dream home, providing tranquility, space and versatility.

"Farmhouses are appealing for several reasons," says Richard Freshwater, director of Cheffins estate agency. "They are often part of a small hamlet in an attractive location. Additionally, as they are built for farmers and their families, they are usually a good size with plenty of accommodation, and often have land and a useful range of outbuildings."

We’ve selected some of the most enticing examples for sale.
