TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS

In accordance with the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rule 5.6, Foreign ∓ Colonial Investment Trust PLC ("the Company") advises that as at 30 April 2012 the Company had 583,429,016 ordinary shares of 25p each in issue with a total of 583,429,016 voting rights.

The above figure may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FSA's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
