FTSE 100 movers: LSEG plunges as Borse Dubai offloads shares, precious metals miners higher
LONDON (ShareCast) - London Stock Exchange Group led the fallers after Borse Dubai offloaded 60m shares in the exchange operator, equal to a 17.4% stake worth £1.5bn. Other financials such as Hargreaves Lansdown (LSE: HL.L - news) and St James's Place were also in the red on Thursday.
Chip designer ARM holdings (LSE: ARM.L - news) continued lower following a series of downgrades in the US technology sector on Wednesday as a result of sales concerns.
Schroders (LSE: SDR.L - news) and Prudential (HKSE: 2378.HK - news) were registering losses after going ex-dividend.
Travel stocks dipped as oil prices spiked, with Easyjet (Other OTC: ESYJY - news) falling sharply despite lifting its guidance for the first half. The company said it could now make a small profit in the first six months of the year, compared with previous expectations of a £10m-30m loss. Airline peer IAG also nosedived.
Oil stocks such as BG Group (LSE: BG.L - news) and BP were also trading lower, despite higher oil prices.
Only 6 stocks were higher in the FTSE 100, with precious metals miners Fresnillo (Other OTC: FNLPF - news) and Randgold Resources among the ranks of the risers.
