Industry veterans join British Land board

LONDON (ShareCast) - Real (Frankfurt: BJU.F - news) estate investment trust British Land (LSE: BLND.L - news) has beefed up its board with the appointment of two new executive directors.

Stephen Smith is joining as chief investment officer, while Charles Maudsley is on board as executive director with responsibility for business expansion.

Smith is currently Global Head of Asset Management at AXA Real Estate Investment Managers SA, while Maudsley is currently Co-Head of Europe at LaSalle Investment Management.

Smith is in charge of a portfolio of more than €40bn at AXA (Paris: FR0000120628 - news) , and prior to joining AXA he was managing director at Sun Life Properties for five years.

Maudsley has been in the property business for more than 24 years, and is a member of the LaSalle management board. Before joining LaSalle he was with AXA Real Estate Investment Management for seven years.
