Intercontinental Hotels, Starwood held early deal talks -FT

LONDON, July 30 (Reuters) - InterContinental Hotels (Other OTC: ICHGF - news) and rival Starwood Hotels have held early deal talks, the Financial Times reported on Thursday.

Shares (Berlin: DI6.BE - news) in both companies rose following the FT's article.

The informal talks are very tentative and Starwood may choose another suitor or pursue another strategy, cautioned people familiar with the discussions, the FT reported.

A spokeswoman for Intercontinental Hotels declined to comment on the situation. (Reporting by Sudip Kar-Gupta; Editing by Atul Prakash)
