Mastercard discusses $20m Target compensation deal for data breach

LONDON (ShareCast) - Mastercard and Target (NYSE: TGT - news) are in talks about £20m settlement to cover costs incurred in its 2013 data breach, Bloomberg reported. Reissuing bank cards and compensation for fraud that followed the breach would both be incorporated into the settlement.

An estimated 110 million customers fell victim to hackers during the 2013 holiday shopping season, who stole credit and debit card data, as well as personal information.

The talks are completely separate from those involving Target and Visa (Xetra: A0NC7B - news) .
