MEDIA-Sky Deutschland keeps 5-year goals despite cost of Bundesliga rights - Handelsblatt

** Broadcaster Sky Deutschland will stick to its five-year targets despite an increase of 85 percent in the costs paid to secure the live rights to German league soccer, the company's chief executive tells Handelsblatt

** "Our five-year plan remains unchanged. There will be no sales of rights, no ending of contracts, no compromises on investments in the entertainment sector," Handelsblatt quotes Carsten Schmidt as saying

** Schmidt says the increase in costs is spread out over a number of years, giving the broadcaster a chance to raise revenues

** Sky (LSE: BSY.L - news) will pay an average of 876 million euros per season compared with the annual figure of 486 million euros it pays for all the live TV rights in its current deal For the original story click here: ]https://global.handelsblatt.com/breaking/exclusive-new-sky-deutschland-chief-says-no-change-to-five-year-plan-despite-bundesliga-cost ] Further company coverage: (Reporting by Frankfurt Newsroom)
