Mile High United Way Launches New Website and Moves to New Building

After More Than 30 Years at Their Previous Location, the Social Change Organization Moves to Provide a New Community Hub in Curtis Park

DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Oct 17, 2014) - Mile High United Way spent more than 30 years at its headquarters in the Highlands area of Denver, but they have now moved to 711 Park Avenue West, in the Curtis Park neighborhood of Denver.

The new building occupies what had been a vacant lot in the Curtis Park neighborhood since the 1980s when residents decided they didn't want a proposed bus maintenance station there.

Residents and their representatives have welcomed the United Way building, however. Councilman Albus Brooks described the building as, "an anchor that [will ignite] new development in this area." John Noble, president of the Curtis Park Neighbors, said the new facility is a "welcoming gateway into Denver's most historic neighborhood."

Mile High United Way views the building as an essential part of its mission. Christine Benero, President and CEO of Mile High United Way, said the new headquarters is "a community asset -- a long-term investment in the redevelopment of this unique area and in our ability to continue to partner with the Denver community to improve the lives of children, families and individuals."

The new facility, called the Morgridge Center for Community Change, is 63,000 square feet, including the CoBank Leadership Center, which provides 6,300 square feet of meeting and collaboration space for community partners.

Also, earlier this year, Mile High United Way launched a new responsive website to better serve the needs of the community and tell the story of the work they do. Neon Rain Interactive -- a leading Denver web development firm built the new website for Mile High United Way, including a customized Drupal Content Management System.

Matthew Vermillion, Digital Marketing Manager and project lead on the website redesign for Mile High United Way said, "Neon Rain helped us realize all the goals we set out to realize with our new website and then some. Working with them was a pleasure thanks to their top-notch customer service and stellar programming capabilities."

The new website, http://unitedwaydenver.org/, is designed to be accessible to all people wanting information about the Mile High United Way and its mission, from those in need to those looking to help through giving, advocating or volunteering.

About Mile High United Way

Mile High United Way is more than an organization -- it is a catalyst for social change. Bringing together private, public, philanthropic and nonprofit partners, the United Way strives to tackle and overcome community challenges that are too big for one organization to handle alone. They seek to change lives and transform communities through three initiatives: School Readiness, Youth Success and Adult Self-Sufficiency.
