MOVES-Mizuho hires Rivas to head EMEA derivatives risk solutions

LONDON, Jan 12 (IFR) - Mizuho Financial Group said it had hired former HSBC banker Borja Rivas to head its derivatives risk solutions business for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Mizuho International said on Thursday Rivas will be responsible for leading the development of its derivatives risk solutions offering in its fixed income business. It said he replaces Nessan O'Carroll, who has been transferred to the bank's Tokyo office.

Rivas is based in London and reports to Yasuhiro Shibata, Mizuho's deputy CEO, who is also based in London.

Rivas had been at HSBC since 2015, as head of its capital financing Iberia unit. Before joining HSBC, Rivas spent eight years at UBS (LSE: 0QNR.L - news) as head of debt capital markets and derivatives for Iberia and eight years at JP Morgan. (Reporting by Burhan Khadbai)
