BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY SPECIALTY INSURANCE (BHSI)

The U.S. commercial insurance business said it was expanding its underwriting into the risks of life sciences, naming John Parente to head that area.

HSBC HOLDINGS PLC (HKSE: 0005.HK - news)

The bank appointed David Long, a 20-year JPMorgan veteran, to the newly created position of head of equities, EMEA.

ERNST & YOUNG LLP

The auditing firm appointed four people to its national tax department.
