Quantitative finance

The area of applied mathematics concerned with the financial markets which uses techniques including econometrics, differential equations and financial modeling. A quantitative analyst uses financial data to evaluate financial instruments and understand market behaviour to forecast the future returns and prices of different securities and asset classes. Their research is often used in risk management, derivatives pricing and arbitrage within investment banks and hedge funds.
