Rackspace Adds Support for MariaDB and Percona Server

New Open Source Database Support Comes at Request of Application Developers

SAN ANTONIO, TX--(Marketwired - July 28, 2014) - Rackspace (RAX) has expanded its managed cloud services adding MariaDB and Percona Server, two open source variants of the popular MySQL database, to the list of databases it supports.

Rackspace built support for these new databases in response to demands from application developers. Both MariaDB and Percona Server are gaining in popularity as part of common web-application stacks.

Rackspace offers support for MariaDB and Percona Server through Rackspace Cloud Databases. Each pre-configured database will operate on infrastructure optimized to provide high throughput and consistent performance along with redundant storage, power, and networking to provide for reliability. Customers can engage Rackspace specialists to monitor databases 24x7 and help them resolve issues.

"Cloud Database's stability and performance allow us to scale our platform in a cost-effective manner, without having to dedicate a large amount of internal resources," said Jeff Mitchell, the CTO of Appreciation Engine and a Rackspace customer. "We've been able to focus on optimizing, scaling and enhancing our Appreciation Engine product so we can deliver to our clients."
