SCSK Announces Partnership With Leading NoSQL Company Couchbase

Brings Leading NoSQL Technology to Japan to Support Growing Local Demand

TOKYO, JAPAN--(Marketwired - Jan 16, 2014) - SCSK Corporation, a leading information service company in Japan, announced today that it has signed a reseller agreement with Couchbase, the fastest-growing NoSQL technology provider and the company behind the Couchbase open source project.

Couchbase recently received two of IDG's prestigious InfoWorld 2013 Bossie Awards and was recognized as having one of "the best open source big data tools" and being one of "the best of open source data center and cloud software" products. The company recently announced that software subscription sales grew by more than 400 percent year-over-year in the first half of 2013. The rapid growth was fueled by the success of Couchbase's 2.0 release and associated major competitive wins at many large global companies.

SCSK has been working with Couchbase to market its product in Japan since early 2012, and recently became an official reseller of Couchbase. SCSK has chosen to partner with Couchbase for its industry-leading NoSQL scalability, performance and flexibility.

"The NoSQL market is starting to enter its hyper-growth stage with an increasing shift from relational to NoSQL," said Couchbase CEO Bob Wiederhold. "The first wave has been at the server level, either in the data center or in the cloud. The next wave is clearly mobile, where Couchbase is leading the charge in the shift away from relational, and we're also seeing tremendous potential in the Japanese market."
