Spot silver at $17.48 per ounce, up from $17.37 late in New York on Thursday. * Precious metals firm ahead of U.S. jobs data for October. * Gold bid at $1,092.85 a troy ounce, compared with a record high at $1,097.25 on Wednesday and from $1,089.55 on Thursday. Gold bulls target $1,100 an ounce. * Platinum at $1,354 from $1,353.50 late in New York on Wednesday and palladium $328 from $328.50.
