Slurpee Springs into Action with First-Ever Canadian Bring Your Own Cup Day Promotion

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Mar 18, 2014) - If you see people walking around drinking from vases, blenders, watering cans and piggy banks this Thursday, do not be alarmed. Slurpee Canada has announced its first-ever Bring Your Own Cup Day promotion that'll take place this Thursday, March 20 at its 488 stores from B.C. to Ontario. The unique promotion marks the official first day of spring and will run from 11:00am - 7:00pm, while the Slurpee lasts*.

Slurpee fans are being challenged to use their imagination and bring their choice of creative container to their local 7-Eleven store and fill it with Slurpee flavours for $1.49. Containers have to be no more than 26cm in diameter, watertight, clean and hygienic.

The fun promotion originated with 7-Eleven Australia, where stores saw Slurpee fans bringing in plant pots, saucepans, teapots, ice skates, hats, trophies, blenders and even a Viking hat to make the most of their preferred drink.

"We saw what a success the Bring Your Own Cup Day promotion was in Australia so we thought what better place to do this than in Canada where we sell more Slurpee drinks than anywhere else," says Raj Kapoor, Vice President and General Manager, 7-Eleven Canada. "Slurpee is all about having fun, expressing your individuality and enjoying amazing, exclusive flavours - what better way to kick-off the Slurpee season."
