    UK small caps rise 0.2 percent, in line with mid-caps and outperforming blue chips, down 0.2 percent.

    Shares in Lonrho (Other OTC: LNAFF - news) rise 89 percent to 9.82 pence, to the top of the small-cap index as the British industrial group receives a buyout offer at a premium of 97.1 percent from a company controlled by Swiss billionaire Thomas Schmidheiny and investor Rainer-Marc Frey.

    "We would expect shareholders to welcome this all cash offer," analysts at Panmure Gordon write in a note. "We move our recommendation from 'Sell' to 'Hold' and increase our Target Price to 10.25 pence from 4.8 pence."

    Centaur Media (LSE: CAU.L - news) falls to the bottom of the table as the business information, events and marketing services group says it expects to deliver profit growth below market expectations in the twelve months to June.
