STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps gain, Findel strong

The FTSE Small Cap index and junior-listed AIM shares both gain 0.3 percent, in line with the blue chips and outperforming a 0.2 percent rise on the FTSE 250 index.

Home shopping firm Findel (LSE: FDL.L - news) climbs 3.5 percent after lifting the funding facility to support the growth of its Express Gifts business.

"The strength of the new Express Gifts catalogue and the extension of the securitised debt facility mean the core business is in rude health," says Oriel Securities, which has a "buy" rating on the stock.

Ithaca Energy (Other OTC: IACAF - news) falls 6.3 percent after the company's capital expenditure target overshoots analysts' estimates.

The North Sea oil and gas operator anticipates capital expenditure of $295 million this year.

"2014 capex is expected to be $295 million, about $100 million higher than we had forecast," Liberum analyst Kate Sloan says.
