STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps rise, outperform FTSE

UK small caps rise 0.2 percent while junior-listed AIM shares trade flat, underperforming the mid-caps, up 0.3 percent, but ahead of the blue chips, which slip 0.1 percent.

Sopheon (LSE: SPE.L - news) drops 2.7 percent after the provider of software services says that it needs a strong finish to the year in order to achieve its commercial goals.

Amara Mining (Toronto: AMZ.TO - news) gains 9 percent after selling roughly a fifth of its shares to a wealth management firm investing on behalf of one of America's richest families, in a deal that will bring in cash, a drilling firm, and exploration licenses.
