STOCKS NEWS EUROPE-UK small caps close 0.7 pct higher

The FTSE small cap index and junior-listed AIM shares rise 0.69 percent and 0.68 percent respectively, in line with the blue chips, but underperforming a 1-percent stronger mid-caps.

Shares in LED (light-emitting diode) lighting technology company Dialight (LSE: DIA.L - news) advance 1.8 percent after it maintains its outlook for the year despite currency headwinds.

"Today's (update) suggests everything is on track for Dialight in FY14 ... We remain firmly positive over the fundamentals of the business," analysts at N+1 Singer say in a note.
