Tumble Dryer Owners Alerted Over Fire Risk

Some tumble dryers sold under the Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda brands over the last 11 years could pose a fire risk, Indesit has said.

The company said it had identified a potential concern with two types of tumble dryers manufactured between April (LSE: 0N69.L - news) 2004 and September 2015.

It (Other OTC: ITGL - news) said: "In some rare cases, excess fluff can come into contact with the heating element and present a risk of fire."

The company said consumers could continue to use their products "provided that appliances are not left unattended whilst operating".

Indesit said it had launched an “extensive consumer outreach and service action plan” and will arrange a one-hour visit from an engineer to fix affected appliances.
