UK GAS-Prompt prices fall on higher Norwegian supply, warmer weather

* System oversupplied by about 35 mcm/day

* Langeled pipeline supply around full capacity

LONDON, April 7 (Reuters) - Prompt natural gas prices in Britain fell on Tuesday morning as higher supply from Norway and warmer weather led to an oversupplied system.

Prices for within-day delivery were at 47.00 pence per therm at 0730 GMT, down 5.95 pence since their last settlement.

Prices for delivery on Wednesday were down 3.15 pence to 47.00 pence per therm.

Flows from Norway rose over the weekend after an unplanned outage at the Kollsnes gas processing plant ended.

By Tuesday morning flows from Norway to Britain via the Langeled pipeline were close to full capacity at around 70 million cubic metres (mcm) per day, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed, up from levels around 30 mcm last Thursday. Langeled is Britain's main sub-sea gas import pipeline.

With supply flows at about 237.1 mcm per day on Tuesday and demand expected to be about 201.8 mcm, the system was 35.3 mcm oversupplied, National Grid data showed.

Tuesday's demand was around 13 percent below the seasonal norm of 231 mcm, the data showed.

Traders said demand for gas for heating was weak due to warmer than usual temperatures in the country.

Britain's Met Office forecast temperatures could reach 16 degrees on Tuesday compared to average temperatures for April of around 11 degrees.

Further along the curve, gas for delivery in Winter 15 was 1.00 pence lower at 50.65 pence per therm.

In the Netherlands, the day-ahead gas price at the TTF hub was 1.25 euros lower at 21.60 euros per megawatt-hour (MWh).

The benchmark European Union carbon price dipped 0.02 euros to 7.17 euros a tonne on ICE Futures Europe. (Reporting by Susanna Twidale; editing by Jason Neely)
