UK GAS-Prompt prices slip on warmer weather, LNG supply

* Gas market oversupplied by 9.6 mcm

* Five LNG tankers due over next few days

LONDON, Oct (HKSE: 3366-OL.HK - news) 30 (Reuters) - Prompt natural gas prices in Britain fell on Friday morning on warm weather forecasts and looming liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply.

Gas for within-day delivery was at 38.00 pence per therm at 0853 GMT, down 0.95 pence since the last settlement, while day-ahead gas fell 0.25 p/therm to 38.00 p/therm.

Traders said warm weather forecasts and expectations of bumper supplies of gas from LNG tankers due to arrive in the country over the next few weeks had depressed prices.

The Rasheeda LNG tanker arrived at Britain's South Hook terminal on Friday while a further four tankers are expected to arrive over the next week, Reuters data showed.

Britain's Met Office said temperatures could reach 18 degrees Celsius on Friday in some parts of the country, well above the norm for this time of year at around 13 degrees.

"The next week's weather is set to be still mild for the season. In combination with outlook for healthy supply as well as relatively full MRS (LSE: MRS.L - news) (medium-range storage) stocks this should be weighting on the prices next week," analysts at Thomson Reuters Point Carbon said in a weekly market report on Thursday.

With total supply flows at 225.1 million cubic metres (mcm) per day in Britain and demand expected at 215.5 mcm, the system was 9.6 mcm oversupplied, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed.

Gas prices further along the curve edged lower, with the Q1 16 contract down 0.35 pence at 40.25 pence per therm.

In Europe's carbon market, the front-year EU Allowance (EUA) price slipped 0.04 euro to 8.64 euros per tonne. (Reporting by Susanna Twidale; Editing by Dale Hudson)
