UK GAS-Prompt prices slip on higher Norwegian imports, warm weather

* Market 5.6 mcm oversupplied

* Temperatures could reach 14 degrees C

LONDON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - British spot gas prices fell on Tuesday morning as higher imports from Norway and mild weather led to an oversupplied system.

Gas for within-day delivery was at 37.60 pence per therm at 8.52 GMT, down 0.85 pence since the last settlement.

With (Other OTC: WWTH - news) supply flows at about 258.7 million cubic metres (mcm) and demand expected to be about 253.1 mcm, Britain's gas system was 5.6 mcm oversupplied, National Grid (LSE: NG.L - news) data showed.

Gas for day-ahead delivery fell 0.79 pence at 37.40 pence per therm.

Imports from Norway via the Langeled pipeline, Britain's main sub-sea gas import route, were near full capacity at around 70 mcm on Tuesday morning, National Grid data showed, up from levels below 60 mcm the previous day.

Britain's Met Office said temperatures in Britain could reach a high of 14 degrees Celsius in the south of the country on Tuesday, compared with average temperatures for December around 6 degrees.

Analysts at Energy Aspects said the warmer weather could weigh on prices for the next few weeks.

"Weather runs point to another two weeks of warmer than average weather for all of Western Europe," they said in a research note on Tuesday.

Gas prices further along the curve edged higher, with the Q1 16 contract down 0.60 pence at 38.45 pence per therm.

In the Netherlands, the day-ahead gas price at the TTF hub fell 0.55 euros to 17.65 euros per megawatt hour (MWh).

In Europe's carbon market the front-year EU Allowance (EUA) price dipped 0.03 euros to 8.55 euros per tonne. (Reporting by Susanna Twidale; editing by Jason Neely)
