Global stocks ease, dollar holds ground

Stocks slipped on Wednesday while the dollar continued to claw back last week's losses as investors grappled with the prospect of a U.S (Other OTC: UBGXF - news) . interest rate increase in the months ahead coming amid continued uncertainty about the strength of the global economy.

Oil falls on surprise rise in supplies

Oil prices fell on Wednesday on an unexpected increase in U.S. crude stocks that revived worries about the supply glut that has capped prices for the past two years.

Dollar treads water as traders wait on Fed

The dollar crept up on Wednesday after falling the previous day but was unable to break out of recent trading ranges, as investors eyed a meeting of central bankers on Friday for clues on when the U.S. Federal Reserve will hike interest rates again.

China moves to tame peer-to-peer lending

China's banking regulator unveiled aggressive measures to restrain the country's fast expanding peer-to-peer (P2P) lending sector on Wednesday, warning that almost half of the 4,000-odd online lending platforms are "problematic".
