LONDON (ShareCast) - -Apple (NasdaqGS: AAPL - news) falls 3% ahead of results next 24th of April -Google (NasdaqGS: GOOG - news) down 2.53% ahead of court case versus Oracle (EUREX: ORCF.EX - news) DJI (KOSDAQ: 065500.KQ - news) : 0.44% Nasdaq Comp.: -0.79% S&P 500 (SNP: ^GSPC - news) : -0.12% The main US equity benchmarks are now trading mixed. That following the release of what at first glance looks like somewhat 'mixed' economic data and despite stronger than forecast quarterly results from US financial giant Citigroup (NYSE: C - news) . Not to be lost sight of either are the simmering tensions in the Eurozone, with a renewed 'flare-up' today in Spanish, Italian and Portuguese long-term bond yields. Technology stocks are also contributing heavily to the selling. Google has come under pressure in the run-up to a trial with Oracle over its Android software for cell-phones. Apple stock is also down significantly now. Pharmaceutical giant Merck&Co. will pay Endocyte up to $1bn to develop and market an experimental cancer drug. Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS - news) is divesting a stake in Chinese lender ICBC (HKSE: 0349.HK - news) valued at $2.5bn. Private capital firm Carlyle Group expects to sell a 10% stake in the company at its upcoming IPO, which will value the outfit at $7bn. Citigroup has unveiled first quarter earnings per share of 1.11 dollars (Consensus: 1.02 dollars). MACROECONOMY The volume of retail sales rose by 0.8% month-on-month in March (Consensus: 0.4%). Excluding automobiles sales grew by 0.6% month-on-month (Consensus: 0.4%). The New York Fed´s regional manufacturing index for the month of April fell to 6.6 points from 20.2 in March (Consensus: 18.0). Business inventories rose by 0.6% month-on-month in February, in line with market expectations. The NAHB homebuilder index for the month of April has retreated to the 25 point level from 28 points in the month before (Consensus: 28). Long-term TIC (SNP: ^TICY - news) flows fell to $10.1bn from $102.4bn in February (Consensus: $40bn).
OTHER MARKETS Front month West Texas crude futures are now falling 0.85% to the $101.96/barrel mark in NYMEX trading. 10 year US treasuries are now moving up by 9/32 dollars, with yields at 1.95%.
