VEGOILS-Market factors to watch May 2

KUALA LUMPUR, May 2 (Reuters) - The following factors are likely to

influence Malaysian palm oil futures and other vegetable oil markets on

    Thursday.

    FUNDAMENTALS

    * Malaysian palm oil futures edged higher on Tuesday after a near 2 percent loss

the previous day, but gains were limited by falling exports and investor caution

    ahead of a holiday.

    * U.S. soybeans fell nearly 2 percent on Wednesday, the biggest daily decline in

a month, after data showed an unexpected slowdown in economic growth in top

commodities buyer China, while traders cited rumors that beans from South

America may be imported into the United States.

    * Oil fell more than 2 percent to settle below $100 a barrel on Wednesday as

soft economic data from China stoked pessimism about the global demand outlook

and as U.S. crude oil inventory rose to a record level.

    MARKET NEWS

    * Oil futures and U.S. stocks dropped on Wednesday as the latest economic data

in the United States and China raised new doubts about the strength of the

    global economy.

    * Oil, gold and copper tumbled on Wednesday after renewed worries over the

Chinese and U.S. economies drove investors to sell raw materials on the first

trading day of May, a month known for historically weak commodity prices.
