| | Easyjet, flights at unbeatable pricesWhat is the secret of the success of Easyjet, the British tour operator? Its prices defy all competition. The key? Strict cost management, which means that it bypasses intermediary agencies and that it uses non-saturated airports, among other cost-cutting measures. Easyjet offers flights from Great Britain, Switzerland, and Holland, to a total of 18 destinations, and has a fleet of 21 Boeing 737-300. It only sells one-way tickets and does not require a minimum stay in the destination. The firm has been so successful that in October 2002 it placed an order for 120 aircraft from Airbus. And that is not all. The group has truly made its mark on the web. Other than the fact that it sells the large majority of its tickets over the Internet, it owns and manages several websites. Such as easyrentacar, car hire, easyvalue, which compares the prices of different products, easy.com, a free mailbox, and easymoney.com, which provides credit card services. Not forgetting its chain of cybercafés, Easyeverything, which pulls in the crowds and is rapidly expanding across Europe. |
