| | Cadbury (ex Cadbury Schweppes): candy, chocolate and drinks. In 1783, in Switzerland, a certain Jacob Schweppes developed a special mineral water and, in Britain, John Cadbury first began to sell tea and coffee and then chocolates from 1824. Their merger in 1969, gave birth to a global giant in the candy and non-alcoholic drinks sector, Cadbury Schweppes. The group is the leading company on the confectionery market and the only entity to develop a rich range of products: candy, chocolates, and chewing-gum. Its portfolio includes well-known brands such as York, Peter Paul Cadbury, as well as the chewing gum brands Hollywood and Adams. Cadbury Schweppes was also one of the very first soft drink companies after Coca Cola and Pepsico. However, at the end of 2005, its decision to refocus on the confectionery market lead it to give up its famous brands Seven Up, Canada Dry, Dr Pepper, Snapple, Orangina, and even Schweppes. Cadbury Schweppes, less bubbles, but more chocolate! |
