| | J Sainsbury: from food to banking services With a long history, beginning in 1869, the British Group, Sainsbury, is today a leading company in the distribution of consumer goods. The group runs 350 Sainsburys supermarkets and 300 shops branded Sainsbury's Local and Bells Stores. Customers can also buy online via Internet Sainsbury's to You. The group caters for more than 14 million customers per week, offering a range of articles from food to healthcare products, of which just under half are sold under the company's own brand. As a result of its number sales outlets, the company owns a significant amount of real estate, which it manages via its Sainsbury's Property division. Finally, in association with the bank HBOS, Sainsbury's Bank offers individual clients a diverse range of banking services (loans, insurance, fund management, credit cards). |
