This Big Bad Wolf edit is yet another example of how TikTok loves this ominous Metro Boomin song

There’s a new song taking over TikTok, and it has finally made its impact in the Shrek universe.

DreamWorks’ latest release, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, is already getting the Heroes & Villains treatment – with the Big Bad Wolf landing the starring role. In the movie, the Big Bad Wolf is a bounty hunter tracking down Puss.

This TikToker has taken the Big Bad Wolf and made him one of the most intimidating antagonists out there.

This edit is yet another installment of the trend where TikTokers place villains’ monologues over this instrumental. We’ve seen The Joker, Thanos, The Riddler and more have their voices dubbed over this song. If you are a villain, your voice and this song have played in tandem.

The trend goes beyond just fictional villains, placing famous sports figures or anyone with a “diabolical” line in the limelight.

Here’s Kobe Bryant talking about facing off against his idol Michael Jordan for the first time.

These monologues have been remixed and given new life, yet where is the backdrop for the makeover coming from?

Simple. It comes from one of the best hip-hop producers in the world: Metro Boomin.

In December 2022, Boomin released his second studio album, Heroes & Villains. The sound playing is a mashup of two songs on the album. The first part — typically where the monologue gets added — comes from the final 40 seconds of the opening track “On Time.” On the album, Boomin samples a monologue from Homelander, a character from Prime Video’s hit show The Boys.

In the TikTok trend, the monologue is replaced with a monologue from the subject of the edit and then followed by a portion of the song “Superhero (Heroes & Villains),” featuring Future and Chris Brown.

Boomin’s album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, while the single “Superhero (Heroes & Villains)” peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song currently sits at No. 24 after placing at No. 55 last week.

The album itself is moving back up the charts. Heroes & Villains currently sits at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 200, coming in behind Taylor Swift’s Midnights at No. 2 and SZA’s SOS at No. 1.

Even as the superproducer he is, Metro Boomin is impressed by the edits featuring his song.

As the song and the album stay on the charts, expect to keep seeing fictional — and potentially real-life — villains all across your for you page.
