If you’re trying to cook more at home or cut back on ordering takeout, one of the simplest dishes to meal prep is a rice bowl. All you need to do is use rice as your base and then pile on all your favorite veggies, a protein and sauce if you’re feeling it. It’s delicious, healthy and especially great if you’re only cooking for one.

If you want to make life really easy, you can toss your toppings on a sheet pan or in the air fryer and cook them all at once. It’s the rice that takes the longest to cook, and it’s often the hardest to get the texture right.

That’s probably why so many people on Amazon — we’re talking over 27,000 shoppers — give the DASH Mini Rice Cooker 5 out of 5 stars. This rice cooker is only $24.99, and it does all the cooking for you (hence the name).

All you have to do is add water and your uncooked rice, press the cook button and let it steam for 20 minutes or less. When you’re done, you can use the included mixing paddle to fluff it up and serve or turn on the warming function to keep it hot until you’re ready to eat. Cleanup is a breeze, too. Simply remove the cooking pot and put it in the dishwasher.

The DASH Mini Rice Cooker can cook up to two cups of rice at a time. Plus, it’s small. Including the handles on the sides, it’s only 8.3 inches wide and 16 inches tall. It also comes in eight colors if you want it to match your kitchen.

“I’m a college student and wanted to be able to make small enough servings of rice for just one person. This can do that,” wrote one Amazon reviewer. “It’s super easy to use and comes with a little measuring cup and instruction booklet. Just one button starts to cook the rice and it turns to the ‘warm’ setting automatically when the rice is done cooking.”

Of course, one thing you should keep in mind is that you should always rinse your rice before cooking. Not only does this remove dirt or debris, but it also gets rid of any excess starch on the kernels’ surface. If you cook with the extra starch, it’s not necessarily going to hurt you, but you’ll probably end up with a gross gummy or sticky texture.

In addition to making rice, the brand says you can use this gadget to make oatmeal, soups, stews and eggs. It comes with a recipe booklet if you need ideas. See? Cooking can be easy.
