Jennifer Lopez has spoken candidly about the realities of juggling her career as an entrepreneur, singer, actress and all round style icon, alongside her role as a mother.

In a newly-released interview with WSJ. Magazine for its 'November Innovator Issue', the 51-year-old recalled an honest conversation she recently had with her 12-year-old twins, Max and Emme Muñiz, about their lives.

When discussing what she's learnt during lockdown as a result of the global Covid-19 pandemic, Lopez explained she has 'actually loved being home and having dinner with the kids every night, which I hadn't done in probably—ever'.

It was during one of these intimate dinners at home that J-Lo said her children discussed what concerns they had about their family.

'The kids kind of expressed to me, like, the parts that they were fine with about our lives and the parts they weren't fine with,' she revealed.

Lopez described the conversation as 'a real eye-opener and a reassessment' of 'what was working and what wasn't working'.

The actress continued, noting: 'You thought you were doing OK, but you're rushing around and you're working and they're going to school and we're all on our devices.'

The soon-to-be bride explained that, although she knows she's providing an 'awesome' life for her children, she understands they still need her.

'They need us in a different way,' she continued. 'We have to slow down and we have to connect more. And, you know, I don't want to miss things. And I realised, "God. I would have missed that if I wasn't here today".'

Elsewhere in the interview, Lopez - who recently teamed up with her fiancé Alex Rodriguez to launch the health and wellness brand Hims & Hers - made it clear that family will alway come first in her life.

'Everybody aged, like, three years during this pandemic,' she joked, noting that more time with her family has meant she's had the opportunity to see her twins grow, day by day.

'I watched them go from kind of young and naive to really, like, grown-ups to me now,' she said. 'They're not our babies anymore. They've been given a dose of the real world, with the knowledge that things can be taken away from you and life is going to happen no matter what. They had to grow up….So did we.'

Despite the pandemic, 2020 has certainly been a busy year for the star, following the success of her Super Bowl performance, filming for her upcoming film, Marry Me, and the launch of her brand new cosmetics line.
