Woman arrested after car ploughed into house and left hole in living room wall

A woman has been arrested after a car ploughed into a house and left a huge hole in the living room wall.

The Seat Leon TDI smashed into the bungalow in Burgess Hill, West Sussex after hitting a lamppost last Wednesday evening.

The 45-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and criminal damage recklessly endangering life.

The woman, who lives nearby, was taken to hospital as a precaution and later discharged, police said.

Officers took the driver into custody to be questioned by officers.

Sussex Police said no injuries were reported following the incident.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police responded to a road traffic collision in Temple Grove, Burgess Hill at 8.20pm on Wednesday (March 31).

"A car collided with a lamppost and subsequently crashed into the front of a house. No injuries were reported.

"The driver - a 45-year-old local woman - was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and criminal damage recklessly endangering life.
