The pay-TV industry ended 2020 with 5.1 million fewer subscribers than it started with, according to data compiled by Leichtman Research Group. Satellite was the biggest loser across the various types of telecom companies offering pay-TV service. AT&T shifted its focus to its new digital TV service, AT&T TV, in 2020, trying to move as many customers as possible to that service.
