Tennessee ex-teacher in abduction case to plead guilty: officials
A former Tennessee high school teacher accused of abducting a 15-year-old female student in a cross-country journey that ended with his arrest in California will plead guilty to two related felony charges, officials said on Wednesday. Tad Cummins, 51, will plead guilty to obstruction of justice and transporting a minor across state lines for the purpose of engaging in criminal sexual conduct in a motion filed in U.S. District Court in Nashville, according to his attorney, assistant federal public defender Dumaka Shabazz, and David Boling, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Nashville. "Mr. Cummins submits after...personal reflection, he would like to enter a plea of guilty to both counts as charged in the indictment,” according to the motion.
