The European Energy Exchange (EEX) has won the tender to host auctions of emission allowances on behalf of the German government for three years from 2024, extending its current mandate, the Leipzig-based exchange said on Monday. Starting in January 2024 for a period of three years, the EEX will continue to conduct the weekly auctions on behalf of Germany within the framework of the EU emissions trading system (EU ETS), it specified. There is also an option to extend the agreement by another two years, the EEX said.

LONDON (Reuters) -Banks and other market participants in the European Union will have to prove to regulators that they are not overly reliant on clearing houses in London for processing their derivatives transactions, an EU draft document seen by Reuters showed. The EU has long wanted to end heavy reliance on London-based clearing houses, such as London Stock Exchange Group's LCH, for clearing euro-denominated interest rate swaps, particularly now Britain is no longer a member of the bloc. Brexit has meant that much of the UK financial sector has been cut off from the EU, but Brussels has allowed clearers in London to continue serving customers in the bloc until June 30, 2025.
