UPDATE 1-BP's Whiting, Indiana refinery may shut FCCU in early Sept for work -sources
(Adds BP no comment and background)
HOUSTON, Aug 12 (Reuters) - BP Plc may shut the small gasoline-producing unit at its 430,000 barrel-per-day (bpd) Whiting, Indiana, refinery in early September, said sources familiar with plant operations on Monday.
The 65,000-bpd fluidic catalytic cracking unit 600 (FCCU 600) is scheduled for a planned overhaul, the sources said. The shutdown has been expected to begin as early as mid-August.
A BP spokesman declined comment.
BP completed the planned overhaul of the refinery's Blending Oil Unit on Aug. 4, the sources said. The Blending Oil Unit is a hydrotreater, which removes sulfur from motor fuels. (Reporting by Erwin Seba; Editing by Lisa Shumaker and Sandra Maler)
